Established in 1977, The Neurosurgical & Spine Institute of Savannah is one of the largest private neurosurgical practices on the east coast. The ideal candidate will have previous experience with surgical, trauma and/or pain management patients. Core responsibilities will include:
- Performing physical examinations and health assessments to obtain complete history and physical.
- Charting and dictating progress notes in a timely and complete manner.
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, EMGs, etc.).
- Prescribing medications that are necessary to control medical condition.
- Confering with assigned surgeon on patients presenting with more complex problems.
- Educating patients and their families on healthcare management and disease prevention.
- Serving as a first assist during surgery, at the neurosurgeon's direction.
- Collaborating with healthcare entities to ensure all pre- and post-operative orders are submitted and fulfilled.
- Working up new patients to include admissions, consults and discharge summaries.
- Rounding on practice patients as directed by assigned neurosurgeon and/or call requirements, communicating any results or changes to an existing plan of care to patient and families.
Requirements
- Master's degree in nursing or bachelor's degree in medical science
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia - OR - Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the state of Georgia - OR - licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Georgia
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certification Program (AANP), Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB), or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire; ACLS within 60 days of hire
- Proficient knowledge of Georgia Scope of Practice for Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants
- Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
