Seeking acute-care experienced nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and RNFAs to become part of our nationally recognized cardiac surgery team at the Florence Wormald Heart & Vascular Institute at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. Located in Greater Cincinnati, the current group includes 6 cardiac-only surgeons, 12 APPs (6 inpatient, 5 surgical, and 1 outpatient), and 3 RNFAs. We Are Currently Seeking:
- Inpatient support (nurse practitioners or physician assistants) to care for post-operative patients and consults.
- Experienced surgical first assists (APPs or RNFAs) in surgery.
Job Description:
The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner (PA/NP) Cardiac Surgery provides operative (pre, intra and post) care to patients. Under the auspices of a designated supervising physician(s), the PA/NP Cardiac Surgery applies in depth knowledge, expert skill, and clinical judgment in first assisting the surgeon with performing complex surgical procedures. Additionally, the PA/NP Cardiac Surgery provides care as needed in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings and participates in call coverage with the cardiac surgeons and advanced practice providers.

Our Surgical Cases Include:
Valve Procedures
- Complex multi-valve repair and replacement
- Minimally invasive mitral valve replacement for mitral annular calcification
- Aortic and tricuspid valve treatments
Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Procedures
- Cardiac tumor removal
- Atrial septal defect (ASD) closure
- Surgical ablation and ligation of the left atrial appendage
Rhythm and Heart Failure Interventions
- Atrial fibrillation surgery
- Advanced and complex heart failure LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) surgery
Coronary and Aortic Procedures
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
- Complex aorta surgery

Requirements
Required Education, Credentials, Licenses (PA-C):
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program; meets the requirement for certification/re-certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in appropriate specialty area.
- Licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state where work is being performed; completion of CME requirements.
- Requires Certificate of Authority and Standard Care Arrangement with collaborating physician to practice as a physician assistant.
- St. Elizabeth Medical Staff Membership & Privileges.
- DEA Certificate with prescribing/dispensing privileges in the state where work is being performed.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Desirable Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
