Full-time Opportunity at AdventHealth Orlando
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities:
- Works closely with their assigned Maternal Fetal Medicine physician to plan and provide care within the framework of policies, guidelines, and privileges in outpatient settings (about 90% at the HROB Resident Clinic on the AdventHealth Orlando Campus) and inpatient settings (about 10% at AdventHealth Orlando Hospital).
- In the outpatient setting: provides prenatal care, post-partum care, diabetes in pregnancy evaluation and management, hypertension in pregnancy evaluation and management, and pre-pregnancy consultations. Willing to fill-in at other office Maternal Fetal Medicine outpatient locations when needed (anticipated to be only rarely).
- In the inpatient setting: Provides inpatient antepartum rounding on hospitalized patients at AdventHealth Orlando. Labor management and deliveries are not part of this job role.
- Actively participates in resident education and research and stays current with best practices to facilitate teaching evidence-based-medicine to Ob/Gyn residents and medical students.
- Has technical skills and flexibility to provide care both face-to-face as well as via telemedicine platforms on outpatients and hospitalized patients as needed.
- Orders, interprets, and incorporates diagnostic tests, studies, and lab values into the plan-of-care; evaluates effectiveness.
- Formulates appropriate diagnosis based on history, physical examination, and clinical findings.
- Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies according to privileges.
- Participates in quality review and improvement activities including performance evaluations, internal reviews, monthly Performance Platform meetings, monthly Practice Operations Council meetings and assigned AdventHealth quality programs.
Schedule Details:
- Monday Friday in office, 7:30am 4:30pm.
- Occasional hospital and weekend coverage
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Possesses the motivation and empathy to go above and beyond for patients and their families during the hardest times of their pregnancy journey.
- Understands the pathophysiology and management of common pregnancy complications including hypertensive disorders and diabetes (gestational and non-gestational).
- Has the emotional maturity and experience to successfully navigate the complexity of family dynamics, patient anxiety and social hurtles that can complicate providing obstetric care.
- Is willing and able to support the patient's autonomy in making any reproductive choices she may choose as part of her care.
- Strong background or skills in teaching both patients as well as colleagues, experience with teaching residents is a plus.
- Is willing to uphold the vision, values and service standards of AdventHealth
Education and Experience Required:
- Master's degree in Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant studies
- Experience in OBGYN and/or Endocrinology and Diabetes (preferred)
- Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (preferred)
- Experience working with residents and medical students (preferred)
Licensure, Certification or Registration Required:
- Current, valid Florida APRN or PA license
- Current BLS and ACLS
